I used to believe I could “catch up” on sleep.

You know, like it was some cosmic bank account:

💸 Withdraw Monday to Friday,

💤 Deposit all day Sunday.

Turns out… biology doesn’t do refunds.

I learned the hard way that   sleep debt doesn’t vanish—it compounds.

Quietly. Steadily.

Then shows up  right when you need your brain the most —during exams, deadlines, or important conversations when your brain goes:

> “Nah, I’m out. Good luck.”

At first, I wore sleepless nights like a badge of honor.

Productivity felt addictive.

But so did the brain fog, mood swings, and forgetting why I walked into rooms.

As an Occupational Therapist, I now see the irony:

I was  teaching  people balance, while running on caffeine and chaos myself.

The truth is—  we don’t “catch up” on sleep.

We   compensate   for it... often with our mood, memory, or health.

So now I ask myself—and I’ll ask you too:

🕒 What are you sacrificing in the name of productivity?

💡 Is it worth it?

🧠 Would your future self thank you for another all-nighter?

Sleep isn’t lazy. It’s leadership.

And showing up fully  requires first lying down mindfully.

Let’s normalize rest as a strategy, not a setback.

Deal?
